What are the small white worms found in the files?
My mother-in-law has been going through some new and old files in her office in Hawaii…some of the older ones date back to the early 80’s. She is finding small white worms in the files that resemble maggots. Does anyone know what these are?
Maggots are fly larve and are have no legs. If your little guests have tiny legs underneath, then they are larvae of other insects……maybe a member of the Dermestid family……..which is very, very destructive to paper products. If you MIL has a big chest type freezer, wrap the files tightly in plastic and put them in the freezer for a few days. That will kill the critters. Then she’s going to have to do a major clean up project in the office.
One safe product to use after the major clean up is PermaGuard DE or one of the other agricultural safe diatomaceous earth (DE) products ….other brands that is. NO WAY use swimming pool filter distomaceous earth…….it is not to be breathed!! Ag DE is safe and can be sprinkled where the bugs hangout.
